Can I Purchase Read-Write NFC HF RFID Tags?
Are there any non-NFC high-frequency tags that are both read- and write-capable, or is this an NFC-only feature?
The most recent iteration of the Near Field Communication (NFC) protocol comprises two different ISO standards—ISO 14443 and ISO 15693—and adds some special features, such as tag emulation by a reader. You can buy read-write ISO 14443 and ISO 15693 tags online. The difference in these two standards is the read distance and security. ISO 14443 was designed for short-range reading since it is used for financial transactions; there are tags based on this standard that support encryption. ISO 15693 has a longer read range (usually about 2 feet). You just need to make sure that the tags you buy are read-write and not read-only.
