Are There Any Active RFID Tags Compatible With iBeacons for Cattle Management?
If so, who makes them?
Not to my knowledge. Generally, passive high-frequency (HF)—and, more recently, passive ultrahigh-frequency (UHF)—tags are used for tracking cattle. Active tags are not a good solution for this application since they are expensive and must be replaced every two or three years. Active tags provide a longer read range, but if you want to know where your cattle are located in real time, you will need to install a large number of readers around the field in which they graze. This would be a very expensive proposition, since you would also need to run electricity and Ethernet cables to every antenna.
