What would be the typical process?

Typically, you would work with a systems integrator to design a solution that would best suit your needs. The integrator would evaluate different software, tags and readers, and would then recommend the best hardware and software for your particular application. If you are looking to purchase just a single reader and some tags for evaluation purposes, many companies offer starter kits. You can also purchase individual readers through online sites, such as Atlas RFID Store.
