Where Can I Buy RFID Tags in the United States?
My company is looking to purchase large quantities of passive tags using the 14443A protocol. Do you have a list of U.S. firms that could provide these tags? We are currently buying from China, but would like to keep the money here.
The two companies I would suggest would be Smartrac Technology and Indentiv Group, both of which will be exhibiting at our RFID Journal LIVE! conference and exhibition, being held in Orlando, Fla., in two weeks.
I am not positive that the specific product you seek is made in the United States, but Smartrac does produce some of its products domestically. Both companies have strong U.S. representation, and both carry a 14443-compliant portfolio. Victor Vega, the director of RFID and Near Field Communication (NFC) solutions at NXP Semiconductors—which makes the ISO 14443 chips used in many tags—recommends transponders made with NXP's NTAG 21x chip series.
I can provide contacts at both firms if you need them. Feel free to e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
