Can the Lifespan of RFID Tags Be Extended?

If so, how?

If you make your tags eat right and exercise, then yes, you can probably extend their lifespan.

Okay, bad joke.

Passive tags can last for 20 years. Other than storing them in cool, dry conditions, there is little you can do to extend their lifespan. With active tags, you can reduce the frequency at which the tags broadcast a signal in order to conserve battery power, and thereby extend the tag's lifespan. A tag that beacons every five seconds will deplete its battery far faster than one that beacons every five minutes.

If your tags are nearing the end of their lifespan, they might qualify for health insurance under Obamacare, but I cannot guarantee that.
