Can Smartphones Read RFID Tags?
If not, what needs to be done to make this possible?
If a smartphone has a built-in Near Field Communication (NFC) reader, then it can interrogate NFC tags, which are short-range RFID tags. If not, you would need to add an external reader in order to interrogate passive ultrahigh-frequency (UHF) tags based on the Electronic Product Code (EPC) standard.
