Can I Track a Lost E-ZPass Device Via an RFID Interrogator?

Posted By RFID Journal, 11.05.2013

I lost my E-ZPass, and it's with some cash and passports. Would it be possible to locate them using an RFID reader?

Not really. If you purchased an active RFID reader capable of pinpointing the tag, you would still need to get to within 100 feet of the tag in order to detect it. Unless you have a very good idea of the tag's vicinity, it would be very difficult to get that close.

I'm fairly certain my possessions with my E-ZPass are in my house or my in-laws house, so getting within 100' isn't a problem. What kind of reader would do the job?
