Can I Buy Off-the-Shelf RFID Event-Management Software?
I want to purchase my own RFID equipment for private events, but I don't want to develop my own application.
To my knowledge, no off-the-shelf RFID event-management software is currently available on the market. That said, this is really just a database application. When a person registered for an event online, you could collect his or her contact information and store it in a database, and then assign a registration number to that individual in the database. That number could be written to an RFID badge, or it could be associated with a serial number already on the badge. Every time the badge was read at the event, the location and time would of the read be recorded and appended to the database record.
If you already have a registration database, you could probably hire someone to write an application programming interface to the readers or middleware, enabling you to capture and store data captured by the RFID system. I'm sure there are many RFID Journal readers who could help you with this; perhaps some of them will post information below.
