Can RFID Be Used in Combination With Social Media?
Is it possible to link an RFID tag to Facebook for checkpoint announcements, photo uploading and people tagging?
Yes, it is. Vail Resorts was among the first businesses to employ radio frequency identification to allow individuals to post to Facebook automatically (see Vail Resorts Links RFID With Social Media). RFID Journal worked with ODIN RFID to enable attendees at RFID Journal LIVE! 2011 to connect with their Facebook accounts in real time, simply by swiping their RFID-enabled conference badges at "Like" and "Check-in" kiosks located at the conference. Guests could also take pictures of themselves and their colleagues at a booth in the event's exhibit hall, and those photos were then posted to their Facebook accounts automatically (see RFID Journal LIVE! to Let Attendees Use RFID to Share Experiences via Facebook). The offering proved to be very popular with visitors.
