Where Can I Find an RFID Solution for Election Management?
Specifically, I am looking for a Web-enabled system comprising RFID-based biometric card generation for registered voters, as well as the appropriate RFID card readers.
There have been a number of governments that have utilized radio frequency identification in their elections (see Costa Rica Counts on RFID to Monitor Ballots and Alameda County Gives RFID Ballot-Tracking a Vote of Approval), but there are no off-the-shelf solutions specifically designed for elections management of which I am aware.
Moreover, I am unsure if there is an "RFID-based biometric card" or card reader available. Zebra Technologies has an RFID printer that can print a photograph of a person on a card with an embedded tag, which would allow a visual ID of a voter, plus RFID identification.
There is RFID-enabled software that could probably be used to track votes, but it would be difficult to recommend a systems integrator without knowing more details about what you are trying to achieve. If you wish to speak by telephone, you can call the RFID Journal offices or reach out to me directly via e-mail (using the Contact Us page of our Web site) and we can set up a time to discuss the application.
