How Can I Track Keybags?
I am looking for an RFID tag that can be attached to keybags carried on our trucks, in order to track any changes in the bags' locations. The keybags need to stay with the vehicles.
The correct tag and reader to use would depend on what you are trying to accomplish. If you want to tag keybags and make sure they stay within a truck's cabin, for example, then you would likely want to use an ultrahigh-frequency (UHF) system and put a reader in the truck that floods the cabin with RF energy to read the tag. If, on the other hand, you want to know that the bag is within a compartment of the vehicle, then a high-frequency (HF) system might be more appropriate. HF technology has a shorter read range and a defined read field, so it could tell you if the bag was removed from a specific area.
There are companies that make durable RFID tags that could be permanently affixed to a bag. Feel free to e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org with more details regarding what you hope to accomplish, and I can recommend a system and a few technology providers.
