Which Companies Produce Android RFID Devices?
Is there a mobile device available for the Android platform that has RFID capability and is ruggedized, and that can be installed with an Android mobile application for a supply chain system?
Microelectronics Technology Inc., of Taiwan, manufactures the MINI ME UHF RFID reader, which can be plugged into certain Android phones and most Android tablets. The device can also be connected via a cable. It is not, however, ruggedized. There are a variety of Bluetooth readers on the market that can interrogate high-frequency (HF) or ultrahigh-frequency (UHF) tags.
TERTIUM Technology offers a small, easy-to-use interrogator that can connect to an Android phone or tablet via Bluetooth. Again, the device is not ruggedized.
All of these companies and more will be exhibiting at the RFID Journal LIVE! 2013 conference and exhibition, taking place in Orlando, Fla., from Apr. 30 to May 2. This event would be a good opportunity for you to see a variety products that might meet your needs.
