What Are Some of the Possible Negative Effects of RFID?
That's a difficult question to answer. Radio frequency identification is a tool, just as a computer is a tool. I don't recall anyone asking what the negative effects are of owning a computer. There are obvious positive benefits—greater productivity, greater access to information, the ability to watch moves and play games, and so forth. I guess the downside of having a computer would be that we spend so much time in front of it.
RFID also offers a great benefit—it can help companies track and manage everything. I guess one downside could be that your boss will know how many pallets you stacked in an hour, compared to a colleague. And your boss will also know how many containers went missing under your watch, or how many apparel items disappeared during your shift. Bosses, of course, will look at these as positive effects, rather than negative ones.
