Viral marketing is all the rage, and kudos to the folks at
Awarepoint for coming up with a novel idea for promoting the use of real-time location systems (RTLS) in hospitals. The San Diego, Calif-based firm, which manufactures a popular ZigBee-based RTLS, is offering $2,500 for the charity of a hospital's choice, as well as an iPad for the individual who comes up with the best music video with the theme "where the heck is my equipment?" (see
The Awarepoint Big RTLS Video Contest).
By way of example, Awarepoint has posted a spoof of the Rolling Stones' "Satisfaction," featuring the following lyrics:
We can't do your—transplantation
'Cuz we can't find the—instrumentation
So we'll buy, and we'll buy
And we'll buy, and we'll buy, buy, buy
We can't find no
Now we gotta buy mo'
For inspiration, the company has also posted a hilarious video by the nurses at
Massachusetts General Hospital, to encourage the use of hand sanitizers in the hospital (see
CAL STAT RAP).
The deadline for entries is 11:59 pm on Jan. 15, 2011. Start working on your script today, and visit the Awarepoint Web site for contest details.
