The Technology, People and Companies to Watch
By Mark Roberti
The editors of RFID Journal are working on a magazine cover story that will feature the top people, companies and technologies to watch. Our goal is not to highlight the smartest executives, the companies selling the most RFID products or the best technologies, but rather to point out who or what could influence RFID adoption.
The editors have come up with a preliminary list, but we’d love to hear from readers.
People: Who are the people most likely to influence adoption, positively or negatively? And why do you think so?
Companies: Which companies are most likely to influence adoption, positively or negatively? And why?
Technologies: Are there advances in RFID or technologies that could be combined with RFID to drive adoption—or kill it by doing what RFID does at a lower cost?

Promotion of RFID
To promote the adoption of RFID, perhaps copies of RFID Journals (past or present) could be sent to politicians to provide info on this technology. Copies could be offered at discounted rates. I am interested in sourcing these for distribution by my office.

Technologies to Watch
The advent of 'edgeware' that integrates location based services, GPS, input M2M sensors and RFID over cellular (telecom) networks that integrate mobilility are the next innovation to watch according to Aberdeen. Makes sense to future proof with a platform rather than installing middleware that will be redundant. However, I haven't heard whether these platforms are cost effective?
