Adding Value to RFID Conferences
RFID Journal will offer special DVDs containing bonus end-user presentations to attendees of our upcoming health-care, energy and defense events.
Aug 29, 2011—Ever since founding RFID Journal in 2002, I have strived to provide real value to readers of our Web site and print magazine, as well as attendees at our face-to-face and virtual events. While other sites post press releases, we hire reporters to research every news story, feature and case study that we publish. And while other events mainly feature speakers selling a product or service, we spend a great deal of time and effort recruiting end users to present objective case studies about their real-world deployments. Each speaker is asked to explain the business reasons behind the deployment, the type of radio frequency identification employed, the technical challenges overcome and the results achieved.
I know, from the feedback I receive, that our readers feel that they get great value when they purchase an RFID Journal premium membership, or attend one of our events. But during tough economic times, it's necessary to go above and beyond the call of duty to offer people value. So for the past couple of months, RFID Journal's editors have been assembling a collection of end-user case studies presented at our previous events. We plan to give away bonus DVDs containing these recordings at RFID in Health Care, being held on Sept. 13, 2011, at the Embassy Suites Lakefront Hotel, in Chicago; RFID in Energy, scheduled for Sept. 20, 2011, at the Sheraton North Houston Hotel, in Houston, Texas; and RFID in Defense and Security, taking place on Nov. 15, 2011, at the Doubletree Hotel Crystal City—National Airport, in Washington, D.C.
What's more, you will receive a bonus DVD offering presentations by Ray Lowe, Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center's director of ministry support and IS operations; Gregg Stepp, CMRP, Texoma Medical Center's director of supply chain operations; Carl Closmore, Medtronic's lab supervisor; Ed Bortone, CHPA, Lahey Clinic Medical Center's director of materials services and security; Joseph Pinto, Nyack Hospital's director of pharmacy; Lisa Stepps, St. Joseph's Hospital's data manager of cardiovascular services; and a dozen other end users.

In addition, we've collected end-user case studies in aerospace, manufacturing, retail and apparel, and supply chain and logistics. Each disc includes at least a dozen end-user case studies, along with additional sessions by me and other RFID experts. If you are a subscriber, you already have access to these presentations in our online video library. If you are unable to attend one of our events, or would like to obtain a copy of one of the four industry DVDs, you can purchase a disc for $99.
Remember, these presentations are not sales pitches. They are objective case studies presented by end users focused on how they benefited from RFID technologies. The DVDs feature deployments at such renowned companies and organizations as Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier Transportation, Container Centralen, Charles Vögele Group, Deere & Company, Johnson & Johnson, Kimberly-Clark, Lufthansa Technik, McKesson, Michelin, Monsanto, Nestlé Waters North America, the U.S. Defense Logistics Agency, Zachary Construction and many others. There is real value in hearing how these end users are benefiting from RFID today.
