January 26, 2005—According to a report entitled "RFID Opportunities: Market & Technologies in Western Europe" released Wednesday from the UK's Juniper Research, the Western European RFID market is set to hit $1.1 billion by 2007. Germany and the UK will lead the drive, together generating 40% of the total market. The Netherlands, Denmark, and Switzerland will be the second most active players. The report also confirms the significance to Europe of the recent GEN 2 ratification, saying it "is key to developing the market beyond today’s limited trials."
