Verticalization is the RFID Strategy for Consulting Firms

August 26, 2004—Business processes very considerably from one industry to another, and so too will the RFID implemenations that enhance them, according to a report released last week by ABI Research. Given this variety, consulting firms who are now aggressively growing their RFID teams and expertise to meet client demand will tend to focus their RFID efforts in vertical industries whose business processes they already know well. Accenture, for example, is focusing its RFID initiative on pharmaceuticals, while Deloitte is working on transportation, and Computer Sciences and Northrop Grumman are targeting defense.
