August 20, 2004—While uncertainty regarding intellectual property and the development of standards is causing doubt and hesitation throughout the RFID industry, pundits argue that companies should keep their eyes on the prize. That is, the long-term promise of RFID - supply chain transparency - will far outweigh any short-term hiccups the RFID industry may be experiencing, and if companies wait to learn about, experiment with, and adopt RFID technology, they will suffer a significant competitive setback.
