China's role as the world's manufacturer, among other factors, ensures the country will have a huge impact on the greater RFID market.

August 14, 2004—China's involvement in RFID continues to increase. First, it was clear that retailer mandates would affect the Chinese RFID market, since much of the inventory sold by those retailers is produced in China. Then there is the role RFID will play at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, at which the Chinese government intends to showcase the nation's technological prowess. Add to that the RFID-based ID card initiative for China's billion-plus population, and it becomes clear why the country's movement in RFID will have a huge impact on the greater RFID industry.
