Defense Department reveals its RFID rollout plans

August 10, 2004—The U.S. Department of Defense this week released final details of its highly-anticipated RFID mandate. Two distribution centers will open on January 1 of next year, then another 32 will come online in 2006. As of 2007 the system will be nearly complete, with all products carrying RFID tags.
