July 19, 2004—Microsoft's entry into a technology market almost always has a powerful impact on the space it has chosen. The RFID industry will be no different as the software giant actively expands the RFID capabilities of its products. In April the company launched an RFID Council, now 30 members strong, and last week there was news that RFID support would be added to the BizTalk Server and, eventually, the Windows operating system. This article looks at Microsoft's current initiatives and future plans.
