RFID Reader Has Split Personality

July 15, 2004—A new RFID tag reader developed by a US Department of Energy laboratory is able to communicate with both active and passive RFID tags. While initially developed for government purposes, the device's core technology will eventually be licensed to a private company that will bring the passive/active RFID tag reader to market.
