June 24, 2004—An Australian hospital has completed the implementation of an RFID-based baby-tracking system in its maternity ward. The initiative was launched in response to the 2003 kidnapping of a newborn from the ward. So far the project has worked well, generating strong interest from other Australian hospitals and health industry institutions.
