Oct 29, 2015RFID Journal announced today that Cardinal Health will be the cornerstone sponsor at this year's RFID in Health Care conference and exhibition. The event, which is focused on the use of radio frequency identification technology within the health-care industry, will be held on Dec. 2-3 in San Francisco, Calif.
RFID technologies are now being deployed at hospitals and clinics around the world to improve asset-utilization rates; manage inventory of implants, drugs and other high-value items; reduce the incidence of lost and stolen equipment; improve patient flow; decrease medical errors; increase hand-washing compliance; and achieve other significant benefits.
This event is designed to help hospitals and clinics learn how they could benefit from deploying RFID. Case studies presented by health-care organizations already using RFID, such as Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Northwestern University and the University of Tennessee Medical Center (see Memorial Sloan-Kettering Is 'RFID-Ready' and University of Tennessee Medical Center OR Monitors Supplies, Safety Via Trash Bins), will help attendees determine the best RFID technology for their needs, learn best practices from early adopters, find the right technology partners and move forward with deployment.
The conference sessions, held on Dec. 3, will cover a wide variety of applications relevant to health-care organizations, including asset tracking, inventory management, patient monitoring, preventing objects from being left behind, patient safety and supply chain management.
This year's event will feature a new co-located seminar on Dec. 3, RFID for Medical Device Management, gold-sponsored by Terso Solutions. This seminar is designed for medical device manufacturers that want to learn how to use RFID to better track and manage their products, as well as for hospitals and clinics looking to track instruments and ensure their proper use and sterilization. Presenters will explain which RFID tags will work on specific types of medical devices, as well as the software needed to manage such devices effectively.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet technology companies and view their latest solutions. The exhibition will take place on Dec. 3 and will include HID Global, Jadak Technologies and Vuemed. In addition, on Dec. 2, the event will include fast-track RFID Professional Institute Certified Associate training, provided by RFID4U.
