By RFID Journal

RFID Journal's second Brazilian event will highlight how companies across the nation are benefiting from RFID technologies.

RFID Journal announced today that its RFID Journal LIVE! Brasil conference and exhibition, focused on radio frequency identification technology and its deployments across all industries in Brazil, will feature sessions from Hewlett-Packard (HP) and Volkswagen's Brazilian subsidiaries. The event will take place on Nov. 6-7, 2013, at the Espaço APAS convention center, located in São Paulo.

This event, produced by RFID Journal in partnership with HP, will showcase leading end users presenting powerful real-world case studies. These presentations, offered in Portuguese, will highlight how businesses are employing RFID, as well as where they are achieving benefits. The high-quality content is designed to help Brazilian companies that are considering deploying RFID to address business challenges, determine the best RFID technology for their needs, learn best practices from early adopters, find the appropriate technology partners and move forward. Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet the leading technology providers and view their latest solutions. The event is cornerstone-sponsored by Hewlett-Packard.

Kami Saidi, HP's supply chain operations director, will open the conference on Nov. 6 with Henrique de Oliveira Miguel, an executive at Brazil's Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, to welcome attendees. During another session, Marcelo Pandini, HP's go-to-market operations manager, will present a session discussing his firm's experiences with RFID during the past 10 years. HP Brasil has had a leading role in implementing RFID within Hewlett-Packard's manufacturing operations, disseminating RFID knowledge through educational programs at HP's RFID Center of Excellence, and innovating with the implementation of several RFID research projects. During this session, Pandini will present HP's journey through the technology's early adoption in manufacturing, as well as supply chain strategies and benefits, current research and development projects, and what lies ahead regarding RFID implementation trends, perspectives and challenges.

Washington Luis Maia de Souzedo, IT process analyst for Volkswagen-owned MAN Latin America, will present a session discussing RFID's use in tracking returnable transport items. MAN, one of the largest truck manufacturers in the world, is utilizing radio frequency identification to track returnable containers and racks used to transport truck parts. During this session, attendees will learn how the firm analyzed tag performance, and how this information will be used in the future.

"VW's application is clearly one that would benefit many companies that use returnable containers," says Mark Roberti, RFID Journal's founder and editor. "This and other sessions will engage attendees, and show them how they can improve their operations with RFID."

In addition, the event will feature RFID Journal University, RFID Journal's most popular preconference offering. This seminar, open to professionals across all industries, is designed to provide those new to the technology with the foundational knowledge necessary to begin understanding how RFID can be applied to solve specific business problems, to choose the right option for a particular application and to select the proper vendors to achieve a successful outcome.
