Oct. 26, 2010—
RFID Journal announced today that
Motorola Solutions, a leading provider of passive ultrahigh-
frequency (
UHF) RFID technology, has signed on to be the cornerstone and registration sponsor of
RFID Journal LIVE! 2011. This event—
RFID Journal's ninth annual conference and exhibition—will be held on Apr. 12-14, in Orlando, Fla.
"The name Motorola has become virtually synonymous with RFID, so we are very grateful to have the company's support for our RFID Journal LIVE! conference," says Mark Roberti,
RFID Journal's founder and editor. "This is the third year that Motorola has been our top sponsor, and it is clearly a partnership that is delivering lasting benefits for both parties, and for the RFID industry as well."
Gene Delaney, the president of Motorola Solutions, will offer the keynote presentation at LIVE! 2011, on Apr. 13.
Motorola entered the RFID industry in a big way in 2006 (see
Motorola Acquiring Symbol), and continues to be a market leader for passive UHF RFID technology. The firm has introduced numerous innovative RFID readers into the market—most recently, a business line that includes the FX7400 series of fixed readers, the MC3090-Z handheld
interrogator and the DS9808-R, a handheld/hands-free point-of-sale device that combines a 1-D and 2-D bar-code
scanner with an
EPC RFID reader.
"RFID Journal LIVE! is the world's largest and most important RFID event, so we are extremely pleased to be closely associated with it," says Chris Schaefer, Motorola Solutions' director of RFID market development. "The growth of the event, even in the wake of a global recession, speaks to the importance of RFID technology in delivering new levels of efficiencies to corporations globally."
RFID Journal has also announced that
Avery Dennison will be the event's signature sponsor. The conference will feature more than 175 companies exhibiting a wide variety of active and passive RFID systems designed to deliver benefits across many vertical industries.
