RFID-Based Robots Come to the Rescue
German researchers have developed a system enabling robots and humans to use passive RFID tags to map out a disaster area and send information to a command center. Baggage-Tagging Projects Gaining Altitude Hong Kong and Las Vegas airports are upgrading and ramping up their RFID bag-tagging efforts. Airbus Trials Showing Strong Results The aircraft manufacturer has decided to permanently roll out an RFID application for tracking jigs, and has also launched other RFID pilots for tracking work orders and tools. Companies, Agencies Use Clandestine RFID Systems to Catch Thieves The NOX system includes RFID readers embedded in walls, surveillance cameras and—in some cases—luminescent dust to track the movement of personnel and assets. Aircraft Parts Maker to Use EPC Tags to Track Moisture Exposure Universal Avionics will install an RFID-based system, designed by University of Arizona students, to track how long moisture-sensitive microchip components are exposed to the air.
