Video: How to Choose the Optimal Location for RFID Tags on Cartons
Learn how to find the tag location that will deliver the most consistent read rates on cartons containing products made of different materials. (20 minutes)
Achieving high read rates is critical to the success of many radio frequency identification applications, and placing the tag in the right location on a case or carton is critical to achieving consistently high read rates. But the right location depends on many factors, including the material of the product in the carton, the air gaps between products inside the carton and whether the cartons will be in a fixed orientation to the reader when tags are being read.
In this video from RFID Journal LIVE! 2007, researchers from the University of Arkansas’ RFID Research Center demonstrate how placing the tag in the wrong location dramatically reduces the ability to read the tag. You will also see how software can be used to analyze a product and find the best location for tag placement
