Addressing the unique needs of companies across Canada, RFID Journal LIVE! Canada brought together leading end users, systems integrators, consultants and vendors to address critical adoption issues in a highly interactive and collaborative setting. Leading end users presented case studies relevant to retailers, distributors, wholesalers and manufacturers in Canada. The event opened with RFID Journal University, an educational preconference designed to provide attendees a basic introduction to the fundamentals of RFID. The seminar introduced attendees new to RFID to the concepts required to understand and design pilots, engage vendors and deploy the technology successfully. Presenters discussed the physics behind RFID, legislation and standardization, building an RFID business case, the EPCglobal Network and other topics vital to success.
More than 20 speakers presented targeted sessions during the course of the conference. Speakers ranged from university researchers and industry-association leaders to end users with hands-on experience implementing and growing the technology. Judging by the buzz at the show, it was clear that companies across Canada are starting to take radio frequency identification very seriously (see Canada Gets Serious About RFID).
