How Long Does It Take to Manually Verify a Single Asset?

What has been determined to be a standard length of time for performing this function using pen and paper?

There is no single answer to your question. If someone is writing down the serial number of an employee's PC, that might take three minutes. But if someone is writing a shorter code, or just an asset's name, it might take less time.

In addition, it is important to understand that the question is not just how long it takes to write down an asset's serial number. Rather, it's how long it takes to locate a specific item. I've seen an unpublished study indicating that it takes 12 minutes to locate a specific asset within a hospital.

In many cases, RFID enables a company to locate an object in real time, or to track an object as it moves from one read point to another. So it is difficult to do a straight comparison with manual processes that are not usually done today since they are too expensive.
