Kraft to Track Containers with RFID
Kraft Foods, the largest food company in the US, plans to use RFID to improve the handling of intermediate bulk containers at its North Lawrence, New York, facility. The company has extended its contract with asset management company TrenStar. The deal calls for TrenStar to upgrade from bar code tracking to an automated RFID system.

Deal Brings Conductive Inks to EU
Parelec, a maker of conductive inks and pastes, has signed an agreement with Coates Screen of Kent, UK, in which Coates will sell and distribute Parelec’s Parmod VLT inks and Modflex specialty circuit substrates throughout the U.K. and Europe. Coates expects to sell the high-conductivity inks mainly to printers of RFID labels and antennas.

GSI to Produce Thin-Film Batteries
Graphic Solutions, a Burr Ridge, Illinois-based custom print house, has acquired a non-exclusive license from Power Paper to manufacture thin, flexible, environmentally-friendly batteries for the North American market. GSI plans to begin selling low-cost battery-powered labels next year.
