The Auto-ID Center has published five new papers spelling out the business case for adopting its Electronic Product Codes technology. The papers, prepared by Accenture and IBM Business Consulting Services, suggest that RFID will produced shared benefits across the entire supply chain.

Parelec Inc., a startup that makes conductive inks and pastes, says it has developed an ink that enables companies to print highly conductive RFID antennas on paper and polyester. Parmod VLT is commercially available and is being marketed as a way to produce low-cost RFID tags at high speed.

Warehouse Apps Get RFID Upgrade
RedPrairie is upgrading its warehouse management system (WMS) to give customers a way to transition from bar codes to radio frequency identification tags. The next version of the company's DLx Warehouse product, due out at the end of this quarter, will be able to handle data from both bar codes and RFID tags.

Savi Wins $90M RFID Contract
Savi Technology revealed that the US Department of Defense has awarded the company a three-year, $90 million procurement contract for radio frequency identification hardware and related logistics software and services. This deal, Savi's third with the DOD since 1994, brings the total value of the company's DOD contracts to $280 million.
