Cathexis Innovations: Based in St. John’s, Newfoundland,
this Canadian company specializes in RFID middleware. Cathexis’ flagship product, the RFID EngineTM, is a software development
wizard that the company says reduces RFID development time and complexity by 75 percent. Cathexis offers end-to-end system design and deployment and provides integration with all major RFID hardware vendors. Cathexis partners with industry-leading companies in supply chain, preventive maintenance and retail (point of sale) through its technology, integration and deployment alliance program offerings.
Hypercom: A Phoenix, Arizona, maker of point of sales terminals. The companys HyperPASS system uses RFID key fobs for payment with its ICE terminals.
Texas Instruments: One of the leading providers of RF tags. Its technology powers the Mobil Speedpass and other business applications. It is also being used in Pradas Epicenter store in New York and has been tested by Gap and other retailers.
Verifone: This Santa Clara, Calif., company makes point of sales terminals that read RFID tags.
