Balogh RFID: A global manufacturer of RFID systems, Balogh has facilities in the U.S. and Europe. It makes passive tags, readers, transceivers and proximity sensors for applications ranging from harsh industrial environments and food processing to access control and personnel tracking.

Brooks PRI Automation Inc: Based in Chelmsford, Mass., Brooks-PRI offers robots and software for automating semiconductor fabrication plants. In July 2002, it purchased Hermos Informatik GmbH, a German company specializing in RFID systems for tracking silicon wafters during fabrication.

Cathexis Innovations: Based St. John’s, Newfoundland, this Canadian company specializes in RFID middleware. Cathexis’ flagship product, the RFID EngineTM, is a software development wizard that the company says reduces RFID development time and complexity by 75 percent. Cathexis offers end-to-end system design and deployment and provides integration with all major RFID hardware vendors. Cathexis partners with industry-leading companies in supply chain, preventive maintenance andretail (point of sale) through its technology, integration and deploymentalliance program offerings.

Checkpoint Systems Inc.: Based in Thorofare, NJ., Checkpoint is a multinational company that manufactures digital RF electronic article surveillance (EAS) and RFID systems, RF source tagging, and barcode labeling systems. Applications include automatic identification, retail security, and pricing and promotional labels. Checkpoint has a global network of 30 subsidiaries and provides professional customer service and technical support around the world.

Electest: This Quebec company develops turnkey systems for factory automation, systems integration, instrumentation and control, robotics, RFID technology, and control panel building.

ELPAS Ltd.: This Texas company, established in 1995, provides of asset management solutions based on its patented IRFID technology. Industries targeted include healthcare, intelligent buildings and industrial environments, where indoor location identification and monitoring of people and equipment are mission critical for operation, security and safety.

Escort Memory Systems: Based in Scotts Valley, CA, Escort offers radio frequency identification systems that provide a data capture for supply chain systems.

Kalm-Forsythe Global Innovations: KFGI is a Dallas-based company that designs and manufactures RFID-compatible material-handling components using high-performance composite materials. KFGI produces RCS-6689 non-metallic conveyors made with Brandonite polymers because of its superior performance for durability, strength, attenuation and reflectivity. RCS-6689 systems have been in daily use for over three years at major airports throughout the United States and Canada.

GlobeRanger: Based in Richardson, Texas, GlobeRanger provides a software platform called iMotion, which simplifies the development, deployment and management of integrated RFID/barcode, mobile and sensor-based solutions. iMotion gives developers and integrators the ability to quickly create solutions by providing a library of applications components and device adapters, visual workflow management, and standards-based integration. iMotion provides a software infrastructure layer that networks the data-collection devices and back-end systems to manage the continual information flow enabling alerts, decision support and real-time response.

Identec Solutions, Inc.: This Kelowna, British Columbia, company offers long-range RFID systems for data interchange in the distribution of perishable goods and the automation of material handling.

Korteks: This San Diego-based company offers a wide range of RFID products and services. It tags range from low-cost passive devices for basic asset tracking to active long-range 2.45GHz Smart Tags capable of monitoring various sensors as well as basic ID and data storage. Korteks also offers consulting services and can assist in all aspects of project/product and system development.

LAN-Link Corp.: Based in St. Louis, Missouri, Lan-Link offers RFID transponders, antennas, controllers and readers for a wide variety of applications, including waste management, trash and recycling, warehousing, manufacturing, access control and inventory tracking.

Lockwood Technology: This Merrimack, N.H., company, founded in 1994, offers asset tracking and physical inventory software and service using RFID and bar code technology for various industries around world. Specialties include custom solutions to match customer needs in various environments. Clients include banks, school districts, software companies, healthcare facilities, insurance companies, law firms, among others.

Matrics: Based in Columbia, Maryland, Matrics integrates components to provide solutions for supply chain and asset tracking. The company is a member of the Auto-ID Center.

ODIN Technologies: Reston, Va.-based ODIN Technologies provides RFID software and integration services. Its services include: secure supply-chain extranet implementation and management; business process engineering and full needs assessment; system design and architecture; system selection and RFQ/RFP; end-to-end systems integration; full Wal-Mart compliance and post post-implementation maintenance. The company's staff includes two former security CEOs and engineers from MIT, The Naval Academy, The University of Virginia, Cal-Berkeley, University College Cork and The University of Maryland, and it has as a consultant one of the founders of the EPC protocol.

Premier Solutions: This Indianapolis, Indiana, company offers software consulting and integration services. Its main area of expertise is in the design and development of manufacturing systems. The company's RfflexLiNE product incorporates the use of radio-frequency identification tags into manufacturing and assembly processes. Premier Solutions also develops custom RFID applications for other industries, such as warehousing, amusement parks, and asset security.

RandTec: The company specializes in designing, developing and integrating software and hardware systems solutions for supply chain management.

RF Technologies: This company, based in Brookfield, Wisconsin., offers restraint-free electronic monitoring, personal security, asset tracking and identification system solutions.

RJI, Inc.: Based in San Luis Obispo, California, RJI provides RFID systems mainly for asset and animal tracking.

SAMSys Technologies Inc.: This Canadian company provides RFID hardware solutions and RFID integration consulting services. SAMSys offers a selection of readers spanning low frequency, high frequency and UHF, supporting a broad range of protocols. The consulting service focuses on the front-end of the RFID implementation process.

Savi Technology: This Long Beach, Calif., company provides real-time logistics solutions through asset management, security and collaboration software that is uniquely integrated with automatic data collection and identification systems. The Savi SmartChain™ software platform and Savi software applications enable logistics service providers and supply chain asset owners to secure, monitor, manage and maintain their assets throughout global supply networks. Savi is a member of the Auto-ID Center at MIT.

SCS Corporation: This San Diego, Calif., company, founded in 1992, develops and manufactures low-cost, passive RFID tags and ANSI 256 compliant readers. It’s system is used in some US airports to track bags that need to be screened for explosives. Its technology is also used for supply chain management and authentication.

Siemens Dematic, Material Handling Automation: The U.S. division of Siemens Dematic offers material handling automation, information processing and RFID integration solutions throughout the supply chain. The company takes a consultative approach toward designing and implementing customized, automated material handling solutions for manufacturing as well as distribution and warehousing applications. It's product line including conveyors, tilt tray and crossbelt sorters, trailer loading systems, automatic guided vehicle systems, automated storage/retrieval systems, automated electrified monorail systems and the software and controls to support them.

SIRIT: This Toronto-company's Radio Frequency Solutions division creates custom RFID readers that are embedded into industrial printers, hand-held computers and cashless payment terminals from major manufacturers. The division also does R&D for smart shelves that can read radio frequency waves emitted by RFID chips embedded into product packaging. The information can be used to alert employees when stock or inventory is low and to facilitate automated merchandising techniques for consumer products companies. Founded in 1993, SIRIT also has divisions that focus on Automatic Vehicle Identification applications, including electronic toll collection, parking and access control, airports, fleet, vehicle registration and intermodal applications.

WhereNet: This 5-year old company offers real-time location tracking technology for keeping tabs on high-value items, such as semi-tractors and semi-trailers. Ford uses their equipment on its assembly line for parts replenishment. WhereNet is backed by Crosspoint Venture Partners, Bay Partners, and other VCs.
